Early the next morning Meghan heard a tapping sound on her door. The girls had been up all night talking and Melissa's eyes grew wide when the tapping continued.

Meghan put her finger to her mouth to tell Melissa to be quiet and then pointed to the bed. Melissa didn't understand what she was talking about.

“Hide under the bed.” Meghan whispered to her as the tapping got louder.

Melissa nodded her head and quickly got out of bed. Crawling under the bed and laying flat on her back, squeezing her eyes shut.

“Hold on a minute.” Meghan called as she threw on a long night shirt, going to the door she looked at the bed. There was no signs that Melissa could be seen.

Meghan saw Melissa's clothes from last night on the floor and quickly pushed them under the bed with her feet. Hearing the loud tapping again.

“I said hold on!” Meghan shouted, shaking her head as she went back to the door and unlocked it.

When she opened the door she saw Andrea standing on the other side of it. Already dressed for school in a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a heavy hooded sweatshirt.

“Do you know where Melissa went? We were suppose to catch the bus this morning.” Andrea wasn't looking to play games.

“Yeah, I was suppose to tell you last night that she went home after you fell asleep. Something about having to grab some books and she was just going to spend the night there.” Meghan lied easily to her.

“Look, I want to apologize about last night. It wasn't right to play that trick on you. It was very cruel.” Andrea stammered, her face growing red.

“Don't worry about it. Its water under the bridge. After all we are sisters and need to forgive easily.” Meghan smiled at her, reaching out and giving her a hug.

“Wow, what has gotten into you this morning?” Andrea asked, a little shocked that her sister was being so nice to her.

“Nothing, I just got a good nights sleep and woke up on the right side of the bed I guess.” Meghan laughed at her, hoping that Andrea would just hurry along her way.

“Alright, well I will see you when I get home I guess. Have a good day.” Andrea told her, heading towards the stairs. Before descending them she looked back at Meghan and shook her head, facing forward again and slowly going down the stairs.

Meghan shut her bedroom door and relocked it. Going to her window to make sure that Andrea got on the bus and saw that her mother's car was still in the driveway. Wondering why she hadn't been up yet to go to work.

Melissa crawled out from under the bed glad that Andrea finally had left. She thought she was going to have to stay under the bed longer.

“Next time maybe I should just stand in the closet.” Melissa laughed as she got back into bed.

“You're not going to go to school?” Meghan asked her, she didn't have to worry about she had graduated the year before and was looking for a job to help their mother out.
